Rukh Parshad: Cultivating a Greener Tomorrow

Since 2015, the Foundation has been organizing the Rukh Parshad campaign, an inspiring initiative that merges spirituality with environmental stewardship. As part of this campaign, 50,000 saplings are distributed to devotees at Gurudwaras as parshad, or sacred offerings. This meaningful act is dedicated to the 7th Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji, who was renowned for his deep environmental consciousness and commitment to preserving nature. The Rukh Parshad campaign not only honors his legacy but also addresses the urgent need for environmental conservation in our contemporary world.

The distribution of saplings as parshad is a profound gesture that encourages devotees to participate actively in environmental preservation. By planting and nurturing these saplings, individuals are directly contributing to the creation of greener, healthier communities. This initiative serves as a reminder of the spiritual
and ecological interconnectedness that Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji advocated for during his lifetime. Each sapling symbolizes a step towards combating deforestation, reducing carbon footprints, and fostering biodiversity. The campaign highlights the importance of individual actions in the collective effort to protect our planet.

Moreover, the Rukh Parshad campaign embodies the principles of Sikhism, which emphasize selfless service (seva) and the responsibility to care for all living beings. By involving communities in tree planting, the campaign fosters a sense of unity and shared purpose. It transforms the simple act of planting a tree into a spiritual duty, reinforcing the message that environmental conservation is a sacred responsibility. Through Rukh Parshad, the Foundation not only pays homage to Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji but also instills a lasting environmental consciousness in future generations, ensuring a greener, more sustainable world for all.
