COVID-19 Relief
Hemkunt Foundation lead the national effort, supporting communities to survive the unprecedented challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We thank all donors and partners who responded with generosity and solidarity to the appeals made in 2020, which allowed the Foundation to support the country and partners across regions with adequate response.
Hemkunt Niwas
Humkunt Niwas is a building comprising 37 modern state of the art rooms made for devotees travelling to Hemkunt Sahib in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. A collaborative effort with Gurudwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib, it runs on renewable energy and has a dedicated dispensary to cater to medical requirements. The rooms are built in Gobind Ghat.
Heal Punjab
Punjab is the only state where the urban poverty rate exceeds the rural poverty rate. Ludhiana district, one of the most important contributors to the state’s economy, has an urban poverty rate of 9%, which is double the rural poverty rate of 4.5%. Through Heal Punjab, the Foundation has aided over 1 Lakh families by providing access to food and ration on a periodic basis, access to jobs, and entrepreneurial set-ups in the form of beauty parlours for women to be the bread-winners of families.
Kerala Relief
At the beginning of July 2018 severe floods hit the state of Kerala which resulted in over 480 deaths and 1 million+ people displaced from their homes. Within a short span of time, Hemkunt Foundation reached out to its supporters to collect donations for relief aid. Hemkunt Foundation volunteers were able to assemble relief packs to be distributed across the state, much to the wholehearted appreciation of the local community.
Philippines Volcano Eruption 2020
Taal is the second most active volcano in the world. It sits on the Ring of Fire. Irinder Singh was on a business trip to the Philippines, when heard of the volcano tragedy. He immediately stayed on to help the locals as much as possible with food and ration kits.
