COVID-19 Relief

Hemkunt Foundation lead the national effort, supporting communities to survive the unprecedented challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We thank all donors and partners who responded with generosity and solidarity to the appeals made in 2020, which allowed the Foundation to support the country and partners across regions with adequate response.

Hemkunt Niwas

Humkunt Niwas is a modern facility with 37 state-of-the-art rooms designed for devotees travelling to Hemkunt Sahib in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. The building operates on renewable energy and features a dedicated dispensary to address medical needs. Located in Gobind Ghat, it provides comfortable and sustainable accommodation for visitors.

Heal Punjab

Punjab stands out in India with an urban poverty rate that exceeds the rural poverty rate. In Ludhiana district, a major economic centre for the state, the urban poverty rate is 9%, twice the rural rate of 4.5%. Through our Heal Punjab initiative, our Foundation has assisted over 1,00,000 families by providing regular access to food and rations, job opportunities, and entrepreneurial setups like beauty parlours for women, helping them become the primary earners for their families.

Kerala Relief

In early July 2018, devastating floods struck Kerala, leading to over 480 deaths and displacing more than 1 million people. Our Foundation swiftly mobilised support from its donors to provide crucial relief aid. Our dedicated volunteers assembled and distributed relief packs across the state, receiving heartfelt appreciation from the local community for their timely and effective assistance.

Philippines Volcano Eruption 2020

Taal, the second most active volcano in the world, is situated on the Ring of Fire. During a business trip to the Philippines, Irinder Singh learned about the volcanic eruption and chose to extend his stay to assist the affected locals. He promptly provided critical support by distributing food and ration kits to those in need.

After School

Our first initiative involved establishing three after-school programs to provide tuition for government school children in grades 5-12 from marginalised communities. Additionally, we set up a computer learning facility for 400 students. This effort aimed to equip students with essential academic and technological skills, laying a strong foundation for their future success.

Punjab Rain Relief Aid

In Punjab, the floods of 2023 submerged villages and displaced countless families. Our on ground team worked tirelessly, wading through chest-deep waters to rescue stranded individuals and animals. Essential supplies were distributed to ensure those affected had access to food, water, and medicine. Boat ambulances provided critical transportation for the sick and injured, ensuring they received the necessary medical care.

Delhi Yamuna Floods

In 2023, severe floods in Delhi submerged many areas and displaced numerous families. Our Foundation’s on-ground teams tirelessly worked around the clock for 30 days, providing home-cooked and packaged meals and conducting evacuations in the Yamuna Ghat area. Team members carried stranded individuals on their backs to bring them to safety. We also distributed essential supplies, including food, water, and medicine, ensuring those affected had access to basic necessities.

Odisha Train Collision Relief

When the tragic three-train collision occurred in Odisha’s Balasore district, our Foundation quickly stepped in to provide crucial support. We offered financial aid to 67 individuals who suffered permanent disabilities, covering their medical needs and other essential requirements. Additionally, we distributed Rs. 25 lakhs to the affected families. Our team worked tirelessly, supplying essential medicines to SCB Hospital and providing food, clothing, and water to the victims and their families.

Uttarakhand Rehabilitation

In 2021, Uttarakhand faced one of the most severe disasters in recent years. In response, we swiftly mobilised our ground staff to deliver essential services to those affected. We had provided warm blankets, thermal wear, and shoes to help people cope with the harsh conditions. Furthermore, in our rehabilitation efforts, we had distributed 60,000 WASH kits and 50,000 ration kits, along with cooked meals, reaching and impacting 350,000 lives.

Dharamshala CloudBurst

In 2021, after a cloudburst triggered flash floods in Dharamshala, we had swiftly responded by sending a team to assess the damage. We delivered truckloads of essential supplies, including food, water, tents, first aid kits, and blankets, to support those most affected.

Chembur Landslide

In 2021, Chambur experienced one of the worst floods, causing widespread devastation and displacing many people. In response, we had swiftly mobilised our team to provide fresh hot meals and rations to the affected families. Our team intensified their efforts and continued to deliver rations and essential supplies to those in need.

Mahad Floods 2021

In response to the severe floods in Mahad, Raigad, and nearby areas, we had swiftly mobilised our team to conduct relief aid operations. After assessing the situation, we distributed essential supplies like food, water, and first aid kits, focusing on areas with severe water shortages. Our team worked tirelessly, delivering rations and food packages to those in need, ensuring they had the basics to survive during this crisis.

Afghanistan Refugee crisis

When the Afghan government was overthrown and the Taliban took control, many people fled to India seeking refuge. In response, our  Foundation had set up a refugee camp to accommodate 500 people. We provided essential first aid and necessary supplies to support those displaced during the crisis, ensuring their basic needs were met during this difficult time.

Puducherry Train Tragedy

In 2022 when three coaches of the Puducherry Express derailed between Matunga and Dadar Station. Our teams rushed to the scene with immediate food and water supplies for the stranded passengers, offering support and care throughout the night to ensure their well-being during the crisis.

Assam Floods

In 2022, when severe floods struck Assam, displacing many and causing significant loss of life. Weswiftly came in action to provide water, packaged food, shoes, sanitary pads, and other essential supplies to those affected. Our team reached remote parts of Silchar, where others were not going, to distribute water and food to those in need. We also collaborated with the NDRF to strengthen relief efforts and set up relief camps to accommodate those severely impacted by the disaster.

Gujarat Floods

During the Gujarat floods of 2022, we had promptly responded to the crisis. Our team arrived in Gujarat and provided clean drinking water to people stranded in their vehicles on the highway due to relentless rains and flooding. We continued to support the locals with a steady supply of water until conditions improved and normalcy was restored.

Sri Ganganagar Floods

When severe rains caused flooding in Sri Ganganagar, our Foundation responded by distributing ration kits and cooked meals around the clock throughout the city. Our efforts ensured that no one went to bed hungry during the crisis, providing continuous support to those affected by the floods.

Baru Sahib Cloud Burst

A cloudburst caused significant damage in Mangarh near Baru Sahib, Himachal Pradesh, flooding the Baru Sahib School with water and debris. As a result, students and hostellers were moved to the upper floors for safety. Our team swiftly responded by delivering essential supplies and was actively involved in clearing the school premises and restoring it to its original condition.

Raigad Landslide 2023

In response to the devastating landslides in Raigad, we acted swiftly to provide support and protection. Our teams conducted rescue and recovery operations, distributed raincoats to shield against the relentless rain, and supplied essential items to those affected.

Himachal Pradesh Landslide 2023

In the aftermath of the devastating landslides, we had intensified our relief efforts. We sourced large quantities of rations and meticulously assembled relief kits to support families severely affected by the disaster. As homes were lost and lives disrupted, our commitment to bringing relief and restoring hope remained steadfast. Each relief kit symbolised our compassion and unity, demonstrating our support for those in need during these challenging times.

Sikkim Flash Floods 2023

Following severe flash floods our Foundation quickly mobilised a team to deliver vital supplies and carry out essential relief operations. Our volunteers trekked through hills, carrying supplies on their shoulders to reach people stranded and affected by the disaster. Their efforts were crucial in providing relief to the impacted regions during this challenging time.

Donation

All individuals and corporates can donate money and do sewa with Hemkunt Foundation. All donations to Hemkunt Foundation are 50% exempted under section 80G of Income Tax.
